Purpose and Objectives of the Organization

Uthavum Karam is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (or corresponding section of any future federal tax code).

The objectives of the organization are to serve the public interest by supporting underserved and economically disadvantaged individuals and communities through the following charitable activities:

  1. Educational Support To promote access to education by establishing, constructing, supporting, and maintaining school classrooms, learning facilities, and educational programs, and by providing educational assistance and resources to students in need.

  2. Food Relief and Nutrition Assistance To provide food aid, nutrition programs, and hunger-relief services to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

  3. Shelter and Basic Needs Assistance To support the provision of safe shelter, housing assistance, and basic living necessities for homeless and vulnerable individuals and families.

  4. Elderly Care and Welfare To provide charitable support, care services, and programs that promote the health, dignity, and well-being of elderly individuals, including those lacking adequate family or financial support.

  5. Humanitarian and Community Welfare Programs To conduct charitable and humanitarian activities that improve quality of life and promote social welfare without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, age, nationality, or socioeconomic status.

  6. Collaboration and Community Partnerships To collaborate with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, donors, volunteers, and community partners to further the organization’s charitable purposes.

  7. Fundraising and Use of Funds To solicit, receive, manage, and utilize donations, grants, and contributions solely for charitable purposes in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

  8. Compliance and Governance To operate with transparency, accountability, and ethical governance, ensuring that no part of the organization’s net earnings inures to the benefit of any private individual and that no substantial part of its activities involves political or legislative campaigning.
